Description
  • Programs shall be area-wide or District Branch specific.
  • The proposal must describe how the program will benefit Area 3 APA members.
  • Two types of programs shall be eligible for approval and funding.
        Expedited Programs
  1. Expedited Programs are conducted by individual District Branches for recruitment and retention of Early Career Psychiatrists and Resident-Fellow Members.
  2. The amount of funds that shall be allocated will be no more than $1,500 per program with maximum allocation of $7,500 per annum
  • Competitive Programs
  1. Competitive programs are conducted by individual District Branches for their District Branch or are Area 3 programs under the auspice of Area 3 although they may be conducted by a lead District Branch or District Branches in collaboration.
  2. The Area 3 Council will vote on the amount of funds to be allocated for Council approved competitive programs based on the recommendation of the Committee on Program Evaluation (COPE).
  • A District Branch may not be approved for an expedited program and competitive program in the same year.
  • Area 3 funds allocated by Area 3 for an expedited program or a competitive program may be combined with an APA or other grant for these respective programs.
  • The Area 3 District Branches (via their DB Assembly Reps and/or Executive Directors), Area 3 Rep or Area 3 Dep Rep may submit program proposals.
  • Area 3 District Branches shall consider proposals from Area 3 Council ACROSS, ECP, MU/R and RFM members.
Procedure for Submission
  • Proposals may be submitted online (Please use form below) or via email.
  • Submissions online will transmit automatically to the Chairperson and Co-Chairperson of the Committee on Program Evaluation (COPE) and the Area 3 Representative and the Area 3 Deputy Representative. 
  • Submissions by email need to be send to the Chairperson and Co-Chairperson of the Committee on Program Evaluation (COPE) with Ccs to the Area 3 Representative and the Area 3 Deputy Representative.  
Schedule for Submissions
Proposals to be considered at the Area 3 Council’s:
  • regular fall meeting - Submission Deadline: July 30th
  • regular meeting at the fall Assembly - Submission Deadline: September 30th
  • regular winter meeting - Submission Deadline: January 30th
  • regular meeting at the May Assembly - Submission Deadline: March 30th.
